Some parishes with Catholic Schools children have been refusing to pay the school subsidy for families who don’t have a record of donations; however, when the policy was amended in 2013, then Archbishop Sheehan indicated that “…attendance and contributions to the parish should no longer be considered,”, viewing the schools as an instrument of evangelization, and assisting students to attend would further such evangelization and a cementing of the faith. The subject letter is attached. Archbishop Wester has continued this policy.
